Quick mods, move this from community to off topic, like you always do ...
The face of chess.com
Don't be concerned, O noble dictator! Our oh-so-generous mods even permit the keto-gummy scam threads to grace the community for 12+ hrs. So naturally, there's absolutely no doubt yours will be locked in an instant. Fair and equal treatment for all! Rejoice!!

Probably because standard idlis aren't keto
If Elroch posted more on the “non-academic” threads, he’d be the most popular member by far.
It's not about popularity or quantity but rather quality. And @elroch would probably not want anything to do with any of the former.
Why exclude them though?
If we do, then probably the "face" would be some popular player like @Hikaru Technically, he isn't "Staff" right?
@batgirl is good, but for "face" of chess.com, I typically think of IM @DanielRensch
Well that's the site sponsored face. We're talking about for the people by the people.

Then probably @batgirl or some non-sponsored "top blogger" or something like this. I don't follow blogs or videos much, so I wouldn't really know who that would be. Likely someone like that though. This is why @batgirl would be up there on that list.

Well I guess I didn't clarify why I chose these two. And perhaps the label "face" is wrong.
But when I think of the site I think of the direct interaction I had with these people. These were the people who made me want to come back after storming off.

Eh, the keto gummies aren't keto either...
the keto gummies scam isn't even the face of the forums, never mind the face of chess.com; they are more like the cameo NPC in the background that most people don't notice, but is just there lol
Depends. Lot’s of people are community members aren’t formers because forums are garbage are only in clubs. Only way they’d come back is if there was a club with forumers and community members which filter out all the people who post utter garbage. Plus there isn’t any automates in clubs.
I don't understand why certain people crave fame or attention. What good does it do? The best thing you can do is just aim to be kind to people, be yourself and try your best. Always try and be better than yesterday. Fame and popularity doesn't really achieve much. If anything it has the opposite effect. Just look at all the celebrities who have to hide from the public and just wished they were normal people. My advice to people is to not try and be popular and instead be helpful and insightful.
Being humble goes a long way!
There are always topics bring created asking about who's famous on the forums etc. Excluding the creators, staff and mods, for me 2 people have always been the face of chess.com.
@batgirl and Tony Dal.
Sure, long time members will remember different people... and since it was mostly adults back then, those people will have contributed something more meaningful than the endless spam of today's peeps, who are mostly kids.
These were the people who made me want to come back after storming off.
Uh oh, they're gone now so...
I don't understand why certain people crave fame or attention. What good does it do?
People don't choose what they crave... ok maybe your point is more along the lines of "for those that crave attention keep this in mind" but the phrasing you used makes me want to point this out.

Doesn't achieve much... other than endless money and endless friends... lol.

Most celebrities don't hide and... "if anything it has the opposite effect" isn't a particularly meaningful statement because it's not clear what the effect is opposite of... opposite of "achieving much" ?
(I know what you're trying to get at... more on that below)
My advice to people is to not try and be popular and instead be helpful and insightful.
Celebrities are mostly meaningless people, so it's worth asking about the sociology / psychology behind them... i.e. exploring the idea that we create them, they don't create themselves... but ok, I know the point you're getting at, which I talk about next.
Being humble goes a long way!
A long way towards... what? Wealth and a successful career?
You're dancing around the idea of self esteem. You probably mean to say that kids who feel empty and want tiktok views (or similar) wont find self fulfillment via a bunch of stranger's eyeballs. Fulfillment comes from the inside, from things like being your best self and helping others.
Your sentiment is mostly useful for children. If I had to guess, the OP is older than you though
and this topic isn't about celebrating batgirl or andy, it's more a lament that they're gone / remembering the good ol' days / mocking the current topics which celebrate accounts that are significantly more transient.

He doesn't post unless he has something to say... which makes his posts higher quality sure, but my point is the two things (quality and quantity) go hand in hand. If Elroch posted frequently and in many topics, he'd be as forgettable as all the others.
Why exclude them though?
If we do, then probably the "face" would be some popular player like @Hikaru Technically, he isn't "Staff" right?
Their personas are faf (fake as f) for one...
Have you seen the way Hikaru opens videos these days? Attempting to be enthusiastic and smile? It's like his face doesn't let him... dude is arrogant and contemptuous to the core.
And Ben Finegold and Karen tell a story about how Danny threatened them... "you're going to regret this." I mean... Danny acts like a fking clown in public, so it's pretty easy to guess that's not the real him.
Ok their faces are all over the website, but I'd rather not think of those two ![]()

@batgirl and Tony Dal.
Batgirl doesn't post anymore. She was our resident historian and so much more.
Tony isn't on the site anymore. He covered chess as a titled player and humor as the resident goofball. Probably got frustrated about getting muted too many times. And this was before the autobots

@hueywilliams, etc
So has chess.com become faceless like me?
