Great! :-)
The Game of Kings

I discovered/your blog only 2 days ago via your Morphy Biography on the other web site. Glad to see you still post about chess and not only music as I read somewhere.
The artist's ideas seen very unconventional to me. Why does he write Rex, Regina on the faces but does not give them a crown ?

Really Cool, I love Chess Art!!!! Your Awesome Thank You so Much For All Your Work And Efforts!!!

This was his surrealistic period. Surrealists offered neither rhyme nor reason for their fantastical creations.

This is some brilliant work for those interested in the style. I wonder if there are any poster reproductions out there for purchase? I love to collect anything chess!

The original lithographs sold in 2013 and 2018.
Sold Price: Raffi Kaiser Original Lithograph - November 4, 0118 9:00 AM PST (invaluable.com)
The only prints I could find were of the Queen. There was a print of all the pieces at the board but it's been sold on ebay. Don't have any idea about the copyright on it.

Raffi Kaiser was born in Jerusalem on May 27, 1931. He was a classically trained artist. The time between 1962 and 1978 is considered his 'first period' during which his work was surrealistic, often described as Kafkaesque. This set came from that period. In 1978 Kaiser went into a three-year long self-exile, living in the Judean and Negev Deserts of Israel during which, true to Kafka, he underwent a Metamorphosis. His style radically changed from surrealism to landscapes. He embraced drawing over painting and forsook his use of vibrant colors for the starkness of black & white. His art journey took him to China, Japan and Italy were he learned to embrace each culture's traditional styles and incorporate them into his own work. He lived in Paris and Tuscany and died in 2010.
