It's incredibly complicated, as both arguments are undeniably viable. Some people have become increasingly defensive, but you cannot deny the argument about the new UI is off-puttingly polarizing.
It is a particularly disarming change to those completely unaccustomed to friendly discourse, inevitably causing heated arguments.
