vote chess question

hi, someone in one of my greeter games just asked me if anyone can set up a vote chess game? If not who sets them up? I swear I remember reading this when vote chess started but I can't find it now. thanks.

Rael

The staff are responsible for the site-wide vote chess games - the ones anyone can join.

If you want to make your own vote chess games - you need to organise a group to do so - groups can challenge other groups to vote chess.

Since you're premium, Ms. Govenor General, you can whip one up in no time.

okay so if i wanted to start a group how would I do it? (and what level of membership would I need to have?).

Rael

Go here http://www.chess.com/chessgroups and on the righthand side you'll see the option to "Create a group".

Come up with a clever title and overall theme first - and a blurb about what your group stands for or it's raison d'etre (sp?) or what have you. Pick a nice picture that fits the theme.

You can create as many as you like, but I've found that managing one is enough trouble! Haha. So my suggestion is to pick something you know will have broad enough appeal to draw the amount of membership you're looking for but specific enough to warrant membership in that particular niche.

Other considerations to think about include the degree of privacy you'd like to have (internal threads/hidden forums), whether or not anyone who wants to join can or if they need your approval too and the degree of participation you're hoping from members. Do you want a lot of group discussion or are you mainly a vote chess group?

So like a "Representatives of the Queen in the Canadian Government Group" might have some threads discussing which sweater to buy for Harper come Christmas time, and be in a vote chess game against the "Liberal/NDP/Bloc Coalition Group".

/oh I hates me some Coalition! *shakes fist*

apparently my role in government is actually important and I get to make important decisions. who knew?
