I kinda know the story, but if anyone can tell me the full one, please do.
I know that Kramnik has been accusing Danya of using an engine for about a year now. That's basically it. But I really want to know the full story, bc I would research and dig through the entire incident but everything is blocked on my school comp.
Thx!

As of October 27th, 2025 (the time of this post), Danya's cause of death hasn't been made public and the family would like privacy during this time. People suspect suicide or accidental drug overdose, but this is only educated speculation.
What we do know is Kramnik has been specifically targeting Danya for about 2 full years (a bit more than 2 years actually) and this targeted cyberbullying goes deeper than just the blanket accusations Kramnik made to other players like Hikaru Nakamura.
Having evidence is one thing, but Kramnik would often gaslight and change the goal posts. He would accuse of scenario A and then Danya would go above and beyond to prove how scenario A couldn't have happened and then Kramnik would gaslight that he didn't accuse of scenario A and then he would bring up a scenario B. We see this especially early when Kramnik would accuse Danya of cheating and then say he never accused him of cheating.
The problem is that this wasn't a one-time instance. That would be chess drama if a one-time accusation, but this has been ongoing for over 2 years where literally every day Kramnik would have new hatred to spread. Hikaru Nakamura called this "actually insane" how Kramnik could even continue this for over 2 years literally every single day.
What we also do know is the toll Kramnik's constant accusations had on Danya's mental health. His last interviews and livestreams revealed this and you can look them up if you have the time and the stomach for watching things like that. If you want a shorter summary in a single video or two, GothamChess has covered it well as he did with the Hans Niemann case.

Thank you bro. They think it's drug overdose bc of his strange behavior on stream, and experts, they may not be experts idk, say that it's symtoms of drugs. THX!
I don't believe Danya's behavior was strange. If drug overdose, I saw something like sleeping pills which Danya has publicly said he uses sometimes.
Implying other drugs is another of the Kramnik defamation campaign targeted against Danya, in my opinion. I tried to keep the post above just to the facts and not my opinion though. Sticking to the facts, we still don't have a public cause of death.
Let me try.
In recent years, Vladimir Kramnik has become less and less well-known as a former world champion and one of the greatest chess players of all time; today, he is more commonly known as arguably the most universally despised player in the game's entire history. He has become notorious for his newfound reputation as a sore loser who accuses anyone who beats him of cheating without fail, which he pretty much always did with zero evidence. His constantly accusing everyone led to the flood of forum posts where people do exactly what he does — accuse people of cheating when in fact the other person just played better than they did — that still plague the forums to this day.
GM Daniel Naroditsky, in particular, was Kramnik's most common and consistent target by far. As mentioned above, not only did he falsely accuse him of cheating, but he also harassed him for years, despite (of course) having zero evidence that he ever cheated in any game. He also got his loyal Russian fanbase to ruthlessly harass Naroditsky as well, which only made it worse.
Naroditsky's abrupt and (as of this writing) mysterious death resulted in the already harsh scrutiny many players aimed at Kramnik before to intensify to extreme levels, with many accusing him of being at least partially responsible for Naroditsky's death and calling for him to be stripped of his GM title, be banned from all chess platforms and tournaments for life, and/or face criminal charges for his actions. Kramnik's horrific response to the news — posting several paragraphs of conspiracy theories about Naroditsky's death instead of so much as a tribute or a kind message, which even Hans Niemann had the decency to do — has not helped his case at all.
