Pretty sure PHP for the main site, Java on the back end for the Live server, and of course javascript and HTML5 for the UI.
what language is chess.com written on?

i read someone saying its built with django and i was wondering if it really is the case, thanks for the reply

There is a bit to learn about this from discussion on some of the old threads on Chess.com V2 and from notes. The new system is not universally loved, although they have fixed up a fair bit due to complaints from members of above Club. But V3 is slow, clunky, and non intuitive all too often, but we had to have it it for all the wonderful new aspects of Chess.com.
At least that is what I have been told by those that wanted them.

I must assume you didn't mention CSS for a reason?

Because CSS is part and parcel of any website, other than the most simple ones, and is just presentation code.

Andaje sobai bokbok kore. How do you know the backend? Is there any clear reference?
Looking at job postings and various posts by staff gives information on what is used.
meaning programming language
