Maybe or maybe not...Do U hv a problew with that???????
jk :)
My worst experience on chess.com: I suddenly received 2 weeks of free diamond membership for joining chess.com on facebook. Consequence: So excited was I about the premium membership, I did about 100 tactics trainer problems in a row, played several games of live chess on the premium live chess thing, and lost about 200 tactics rating points, 100 live chess rating points, wasted 3 hours, and is now staying up at 3 am with incomplete homework due later today.

Hahaha !
Crosspiner and tyrst, etc....your comments amuse me :)
(I am just a kid btw)
Yes, it became amusing to me, too, after a while. Neither of us seemed to be on the same conversational wave length.

You are very fortunate to have receive a free diamond membership. Join the fun. This site can be very addictive, but I'm struggling with it and enjoying it.
Now, before the self-proclaimed site police scold me, I will keep on the subject. The best experiences I have had so far from others are those "thanks" given to me and the help I have received from thoughtful people on this site. I really have not had any bad experiences. I don't consider someone disagreeing with me a bad experience.
People being friendly, respectful & showing Good Sportsmanship...is very good. However, when a competitor keeps playing when their position is hopelessly lost [their Lone King vs. opponent's King, Rook , Minor Piece & pawns ] is NOT showing good sportsmanship. Have some DIGNITY & RESPECT & RESIGN a Hopelessly LOST game. --- Bill

well, just to be the lone pessimist —forum police please don't shoot me with your hypothetical forum weapons— youve only been a member for 2 1/2 months, you'll run into the sore losers, people who want to make you meserable, etc. eventually! :)

What others say to me in a forum is their right, and I would rather someone say what they think of me, or what I might say, to my face than say it behind my back. The problem with writing in forums, or e-mail, is that those reading them cannot hear my voice or see my smile.
So far, no one has written anything to me that has offended me.
The worst experience (not just once) is...
Playing a good hard challenging game, taking the middle or near end advantage, then (when I should have been sleeping or isolated in a "cone of silence") giving up the game with a blunder! And not realizing until getting up the next morning, looking at the dismal position and thinking...
What the hell was I doing last night?!!!

yeah, I've had a grand total of 3 bad experiences in a year and a half:
one that started asking questions about where I live —disabled chat and ignored him
one that started swearing at me in a hopelessly lost position —at least he kept moving quickly and didn't drag it out.
And then there was the one in live chess that:
swore at me, ran down his clock (I think about 5 min), accused me of cheating, accused me of being a rich person hiring a chess expert to tell me the moves, and accused me of being part of a premium-member conspiracy with chess.com... all after I had played horribly and only won on his blunders!
At least the last guy's blunder sort of made his horrible attitude jump in his face, so to speak. Those types are out there, but the great thing about chess.com is the selection of others players, so it is easy to weed out those nasty players and avoid them.
Sore losers are many times sore about life in general. It is difficult for me to understand why some people just can't endure losing. I wonder if their self-worth is based solely on how many wins they can rack up. I always play to win, but losing usually helps me strive all the more to improve and bone up for the next game. My quest to improve is what caused me to join chess.com, and I have not regretted it.
Oh, by the way, I wanted my site name to be blackknight. Someone else must have it. I like to joke that my lucky number is 13. I am not superstitious at all.
My worst experience is getting accused of computer assistance on live chess twice. The last one was the most ridiculous, I played the opening poorly and lost the exchange, but came back to win when I pinned and won his rook late in the game. My opponent claimed my inconsistent play was a sign I was using a computer!? And I thought inconsistency was a sign of being human.
My best experience is talking with these folk. Made me feel really good about myself. haha
On the plus side, I have made some good friends here. On the down side, I've played some extremely rude people. As for rude people, they're everywhere. Besides, you should see some of the idiots on other chess sites.

I have noticed some of those idiots on other sights. In fact, these are the first forums I have ever participated in because of such idiots. But the true reason I am participating is because the main reason for this site's existence is chess.
Forget the forum police, we need the text-speak police in here, stat!
do we really need them ?
