What's up with stalling!?

They think that you get tortured by waiting and resign, they might feel good about winning a lost game, even though they don’t deserve it
But this is just a game, why do people take it so serious? These people must be miserable in their real life...

I do that sometimes too but i usually play when i take a break from working so i usually don't have time to waste

inferiority complex
they try and fail to beat you in the game but their ego can not accept the defeat and they desperately want to take something from you by other means..
weak minds.. they are always bound to lose.
Bonus: try playing in 'guest' mode here in chess.com. You have no rating, you absolutely have nothing to lose, chat is disabled. And see how 9/10 of people react.

I will try the guest mode

Welp, I let them do what they want to do, after all, they are losing. I just think that they'll get their stalling lessons someday practically in real life. Patience is all I can do or just troll them instead.
I once got a phone call which turned out to be a long one, and I actually forgot there was a game going on. The dude... didn't appreciate it very much.
If you have little time to spare each day, try daily chess. Make a move, then go to the next game. Then do other things while waiting for opponent to move.

But chess.com takes a lot of time to take action against the reports. As far as I know, no one has been banned from the site for any abuse reports I have given. They've undoubtedly offended and violated the TOS yet chess.com took no action against them which is not warranted. Now, back to the topic of stalling. A question to the mods, Presume you're playing a 30-minute rapid game and your opponent is in a losing status with a whopping 25 minutes left on the clock. He/she doesn't move and waits until you lose your patience. What will you do? Ban that player? Of course, you have the option to do that but what about us? We users only have a report button in which chess.com takes no serious action. This problem is to be rectified as people like us, come to chess.com every day after our jobs to relax and play a game of chess. Stalling is the main reason I fear even joining a 30-minute arena tournament. Many people still don't give up and continue to do it every time.
So, in my honest opinion, Chess.com has to take serious action against stalling or else it'll be a great downfall.
Chess.com takes sportsmanship very seriously and will take whatever action is necessary. Chess.com closes many accounts each month for fair play and sportsmanship https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-com-month-in-review-november-2021

Chess.com will only close accounts if they are sure that the TOS are being violated. The best thing for members to do is to report suspicious players and they will be investigated further.
People stall because sometimes it works.
I've seen people in OTB games stall or continue playing lost positions and some opponents get so frustrated that the player with the better position resigns just to "show the other player he was in the wrong". However, all that does is reinforce the concept that stalling sometimes works.
I just wait out stallers.

Chess.com is the worst of all the servers when it comes to cheat detection.
agreed... it was probably danny renschs nephew who was just learning programming who coded the algorithm bc they're cheating detection is absolutely garbage... they ban a couple of obvious one and brag like about like they're doing a good job while there are many obvious cheaters at loose... if I know for a fact that they are cheating how can a chess staff with computers not know? textbook definition of incompetence

As many people said they stall and let their clocks run out because they have a weak ego and need to somehow feel better and the only way they can win is by stalling and hoping you get distracted, frustrated bitter insecure coward losers... which is why I don't play anything longer than 10min... although as rating goes up that does tend to happen less often...
you have the option to report as it was mentioned here, but unfortunately I have to tell you it does lead nowhere... worst that could happen is they get an email asking them to "please do not do it again" ... that is another issue that could be easily fixed by chess.com automatically resigning stallers but then again it would require competence from them... but sadly the only thing they're good at is posting pre-approved shallow answers and editing your posts when you swear or call out stallers and obvious cheaters
good luck with your chess have fun and hope that you find less of those

they'll get banned at some point -_-
no they won't... I played against 2 people I know for a fact they were cheating a long time ago, and every now and then I check their accounts, still active, still cheating.... as long as you don't do it every game, throw a couple of games away and do some of your own moves (or sub-optimal) you won't get banned

At this point, this discussion has turned into a cheating discussion, which is not allowed in the general forums. Since many of you have opinions about how to improve the chess.com community, you can head over to the cheating forum to voice your concerns. https://www.chess.com/club/cheating-forum
Why do people start stalling and then abandoning the game when they are clearly losing? Isn't your time more valuable than some points you get on an internet chess game which have absolutely no value in real life? It's really irritating. I play here just to clear my mind and enjoy but these [edited by moderator: sushima01] really taking all of my enthusiasm. I just resign when i see a stalling [edited] because my time is valuable.
What do you guys do when you play with people like these?
