#TeamDing but I wouldn't mind if Nepo won....he worked hard the past two years and got a lot of flak for losing to magnus.
I will root for Nepo. He won the Candidates (twice) while Ding neither won them nor qualified for them this time. First Karjakin had to get himself banned, then it was quickly arranged so Ding played 25+ games in a month to be able to be his replacement, then Nakamura blundered in a drawish endgame in the final round, and then Carlsen declined to play. Feels like Nepo deserves it a bit more this time after his crushing win in the Candidates.
I will root for the ghost of Nakamura😖 Naka should have been the only playing... Still can't believe he lost that final game. All he needed was to hold a dead drawn position - which is normally one of his strong suits - and yet he made uncharacteristic blunders and threw not only the game but the chance at a World Championship...

I feel the same way I felt about Carlsen - Caruana... I hope they both play their best, because I like it when the better player wins... I don't really care which of them it happens to be.

Firstly because I like ding
secondly but most importantly, if Ding wins, that would be much much greater for chess than if nepo wins. If Ding wins, that would lead to a massive chess boom. China has a population of 1.402 billion. Now, if we have a Chinese champion, obviously that would catch a lot of attention in China. A lot of new players from china will come up. Look what a great impact Vishy had on India. Maybe ding will have the same effect. That would be just awesome

i totally agree, i think the fact that china is potentially having its first chess champion incredible

Nepo, because he at least qualified for this match on the board. But it has to be said that in this situation, the match is almost meaningless anyway in my opinion, because the current champion is not participating. So, they should have just crowned the winner of the Candidates tournament.
If Ding wins, he would be a champion who not only didn't qualified for the match, but he didn't even qualify for the Candidates tournament itself.
