100% of your data source is from one game, im no data scientist, but that seems unreasonable

anyone who wonders if not resigning still pays off at a very high level should check this recent blitz game of mine: https://www.chess.com/game/live/75166430937

Great Example!

116% of all chess games result in a partial win for Gray.

Great example of why I would never enjoy winning a chess game like that

Idk, I feel that opinions vary, but the opinions of one segment of the population need not become normative for all

Because it’s an automatic loss. Sure it wastes the player’s time, but I can’t see anything rude about that. Besides they might force a repetition draw, or try to do moves that won’t checkmate but most likely end up in a draw

Nobody should want to win a totally lost game as the other person will have to live with it. They should just resign but that’s what some people live for. They really feel good if they can make someone else feel bad. It's bad professionally, ethically, and a sign of an unhealthy mind.No different than the people who want to challenge you after they have just beaten you. In other words, piling on. Another sign , someone is more driven and happy competing in the rat race than being a part of the human race. Unfortunately, bad behavior helps to drive many sports. Think back decades on when people went to see evil knievel fall to his death trying to jump the Grand Canyon.Or maybe the bloodiest fight in mma or worst knockout. Technology has come so far. I wish that I could say the same about us. Just win , just win , just win. How much taunting goes on with players when they are the ones winning the game? There is no end to examples in my country so I will stop here.

Dear friends,

I play 10 min games with a ELO score of around 1400-1500.

I wish to discuss why there are so many people on chess.com who simply refuse to resign a losing game. I think it's a lack of respect and a waste of time to not resign when you don't have a decent chance of winning anymore. Hoping for a couple of blunders, running out of time, or a blunderdraw. It annoys the hell out of me. I block everyone who does that, but they just keep on coming. I also notice some nationalities doing this a lot more than others. I wish there was a pool with opponents that like to play respectfully.

Please also join the discussion if you are one of those douche bags Help me understand why you are doing this.

I don't resign in case the game turns around, the opponent resigns or offers a draw, or they time out. Once, the opponent was 2 moves from checkmating me but timed out.

.......

its good, and expected practice to play on till the end

otb, everyone does this and no one cares

besides, learn how to win a won position

edit: if one stalls then its bad but if the use a normal amount of time to move the above applies

Just played a guy called Icebridger3 who was one move from being checkmated and then abandoned the game. He is a premium member too. That's the fourth person to do this against me today. It seems to be getting worse the amount of bad losers on chess.com and in life in general.

Sometimes you get lucky. There has been many more players in chess.com and they tend to be very crap (serious players would've been there for a long time)

they say many excuses, but the main reason is the elo. they pray you will play utterly bad, or lose connection or anything. how I know? because many times they offer draw when down almost a queen... how desperate is that. Sometimes, I feel like they are sick and to better give them the draw so that I don't harm them more...

I think some people do make comebacks even when they are losing. I myself have made a comeback 16 points down and checkmated my opponent. Some people also rely on timeouts/stalemates.

Sure it may feel bad to lose a winning position, but that's just chess I feel!?
Sometimes I offer a rematch after a win -- it's never because I want to taunt the other player or simply beat them again, but rather because I felt like they were a good opponent and it had the potential to be a good game, so I want to give them the chance to rematch while playing better.
