In an endgame, if white has 2 bishops and black has two knights, (assume pawns are equal) who is winning?

Some weeks ago I had an endgame with a few pieces and pawns on both sides. Who's winning?wink

It depends on the position.... if the position is closed than the knights are better... if there are less pawns on the board with many open diagonals, white would likely have the advantage... Do you have any specific position in mind?

Adding to that:

If there are pawns on both the queen side and the king side it is good for the bishop since it can go from one part of the board to the other part in just one move.

If the pawns (both white and black) are located on the same side of the board it is good for the knight.

one knight is better than one bishop, 2 bishops better than 2 knights

Bishops are better. Think of it this way, 2 knights + king Vs King is a draw. 2 bishops + king vs king is a win. wink.png
