Hmmm... The eagle's eye... happy

Great question Master, however it is mostly, not me who should answer it, rather chess.com. As before they provided great tools where now they have taken away my compositional memories sort-to-speak. The tools now, are made BY "tools" 4-tools-2-come!

Of course there are other reasons as how the strolls across the luscious rainforest have turned into measly-peeslies here and there. However let's leave it @That! sad.png

Obliged!

Yeah I was asked for a write up of all things wrong with the puzzle interface. That makes me so tired ...

Take my comment as a compliment! It shows increased versatility which is never as bad thing in a creative life! 80 Years is a long time to persistently do the same thing.

Thanks for the complies.

I have nothing against a few-move puzzle as long as it has some meat on it. However my favorite puzzles, the 1s I am most fond of. are the 1s that have a narrative to go along, besides a crafty way of doing intricate chess. For me the multi-dimensional creative composition tops the more difficult chess puzzles. My favorite puzzle (the 1 which I have not shared online yet) has about 1/3 as many moves as my longest compos, yet the narrative makes it a better one for me. Time-wise, they are also most time consuming to put together as the challenge becomes deeper, when you try to fit the darn thing inside a given mold.

In the old days many problems received a "motto" from the composer but that was about as far as the narrative went. I believe in "narratives" but they are hard to match with problem solutions. Even in math the narrative tops the formal approach. You may have heard of the Gödel sentence: "this sentence is not provable". Your human mind will tell you that this is necessarily a true statement but it's only true because it contains a particular narrative. With a different interpretation and narrative the mathematically same sentence turns out to be false. Narratives reign logic.

Illbtu

Sometimes the narrative could be universally understood and at times, not. Many years ago they they showed a painting of a horse to a "village-lady" from Turkey, that had never seen paintings and pictures up until than. She could not understand it, so they explained it to her: "This is a horse!" & of course she refused to believe so.

Sometimes the narrative is in the eye of the beholder, & sometimes it is not. Like the camel puzzle. Not all will see the camel there. They'll just see the puzzle & that's that. There are narratives that are addressed to the public. Now, ... it also depends if the narrative is not a pleasant 1, than it better remain there, in the land of oblivion, yet some are unfortunate to see the forbidden knowledge, that is not visible to the naked eye.

No I am not offended when someone is clever & fast at chess. But in return, I hope you do not get offended if I let you on, on some secret: "It took me lesser time to create it. Well almost. &... To come up with a name, well... that was a headache, though. M5! Hehe!" grin

I hope you forgive my mood today. I am in such high spirit at the moment (4 a change) that I just want to do some jokes. So, Pardon Moi! happy

athlblue

I forgive you although I don't quite understand your jokes.

Illbtu

The joke is a bit harder than the puzzle to figure out. 10 seconds?! Hey... I played you again! Hehehe... happy.png

Ok the joke is, "How the heck can I put a puzzle together in less than 10 seconds?! To understand a concept is 1 thing, to create it is another thing. Capisco amigo?" grin

It took me at least 2 minutes to make that 1. Ahhh... I hate to explain jokes, by then the joke loses it's luster & lucidity. frustrated
