I’m 7 and I’m 1300 in blitz
1000! Woo!

That is great! Keep working on it and never give up. If you don't give up, you'll become a Grandmaster.

Isn't there a slow neurons chess club? Count me in 🥴
LOL! You start it, and I’m in.
I would also like to join!

Is 1000 really that big of a milestone? I thought that was like the default rating?
The default rating is 800

also think that aduld newbie chess learning is quite different than for kids.
Most of my beginner games are decided by blunders, moves and threats I am blind at that moment.
I think there is a thing to remember: we play globally on chess servers, so there is no chance to advance to the top as it would be may be possible in your local chess (or say tennis) club.

The default rating is 800
it was 400 when I started a few days ago. I think that's much more realistic than the 1500 you default at Lichess e.g.

yes, but you are marked with a question mark at your rating when there are only a couple of games finished.
I think the rating is also a bit higher there, at least from my point of view. 1200 lichess feels like 1000 chess.com

Was it? That depends on how many games he had played before. If you start with the rating 800 and lose like 5 or 6 games, your rating will go down to 150. And with enough practice, your student should have easily gotten better and raised back up.
What I mean is when you start out, chess.com is trying to find your actual rating as it makes you earn many points or lose many points in the first few games. While that is neat of your student to gain all those points, if what I said was true, then in 4 weeks I would expect that of the student.
Finally, if I am wrong, you are completely right. If the student had played 30+ games and had a rating of 150 and then improved to 1000, I do believe and call that very impressive.
I'm still here with very low ratings... I made it close to 1200 in daily, but I caused timeout on many games. I feel it is unfair to lose points that way since I didn't lose. I mean, it should count as a loss, but yeah... I just couldn't finish them...
As for live chess, motivation is tough to achieve and I feel I'm never going to reach 1000.
While you high rated people may be flexing on this achievement, I congratulate this person for reaching 1000 as it is a goal for me at the moment.
