Hi.
How can a trivial ckeckmate in 1 ( Qf7++ with the King at his starting place ) be rated 1930 ??
When I started solving puzzles and my puzzle rating was about 8-900, two months ago, puzzles similar to this were rated 300-400.
Another simple puzzle I solved today ( checkmate in 3, but very, very simple, believe me ) was rated 2311 !!
I often find objectively easy puzzles with exaggeratedly high rating.
How is the difficulty level determined ? Is the rating of a puzzle adjusted to that of the player, maybe to “kindly” help him to increase it ?
Just curiosity.
Puzzle ratings change based on being solved or failed and it's essentially treated like a rated game against a Player.
Sometimes ratings can drift, but if it's higher rates, it's often because higher rated players are getting it wrong often enough to keep the rating high. It could be missed for a variety of factors, but a common one would be by seeing a material gain, overlooking mate.
