The Morphy defense contains a6, take another look at his position.

Even without a6 the position is very similar and I believe the difference is quite minor in this instance.

This is the Spanish (Ruy Lopez) that is the common line also known as the exchange variation. I would say it's good to know lines but even then as long as you know it you don't have to make it to complex. Hope this helps you out.
