Does anyone else's performance go way down when you transition from online play to OTB?

I'm a high school teacher and I bought a couple of chess sets for my students and I to play chess during study hall.  They all love it and there's a couple of kids who are really good.  I've played a lot and studied a ton on here, but nothing OTB until I bought these chess sets.  And I noticed my accuracy and even my ability to spot things and create a plan went way down.  Very frustrating.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have. I make mistakes that I would never make playing online. But when I look back, I had to get used to playing online too so I’m sure you’ll get back in the swing of things. Have fun!

Yes because you have a harder time seeing the board. Standing helps.

I heard that 2d and 3d vision are handled differently in the brain so it takes practice to adjust. A pattern recognition in the brain thing.

Everything is different, not only the view of the board, but you'll adjust quickly with practice.

When I'm studying such as playing through GM games and positions in books, I do this OTB rather than on a computer. Mixing computer and OTB chess when you study might help.

I played chess over the board for about 20 years before I started playing online. I found playing with a 2D board to be extremely difficult at first. I just couldn't see anything. After several years of playing only online, I recently went back to a 3D board and couldn't see anything. Like others mentioned in earlier posts, I had to stand up and sort look straight down at the board to have any idea what was going on. I guess you have to give it time for your brain to adjust to the visual input.
