Sounds good! I would pick up a second opening for black if i were you. One against d4.
ChessSOSYt

i would recommend to play against stronger players( or the ches.com engine) but your plan with openings and tactics is pretty good so far👍

chinmaysanghi

Thanks @ChessSOSYt and @AtaChess68 for the suggestions. I'll definitely check them out!

chamo2074

What is scotch defense though? I'd like to share with you some opinion and mayB play you

LeeEuler

Good stuff! Hope you continue to see progress and enjoy the game

DarkKnightAttack

That's great. One of my students did exactly same. Best wishes from my side (^^)

Number 5 is super important imo when first starting out. I play a ton of King's Gambit which is a terrible opening not seen at Super GM level. However sometimes I'll get a crazy win against an opponent 300 points above me because they fall for a trap or easily lose a pawn out of the opening because the lines get crazy really really fast.

chamo2074

wdym?u are supposed to learn and study and play at the same time

chamo2074

oh, yeah ok well at how rated did you start?

chamo2074

Yes yes but what was your FIRST EVER RATING, B4 even starting to play I need to know that

chamo2074

ok anyway I think for only two months that's not bad I guess. Just keep up, and enlarge your knowledge with useful stuff. Untill you master those, start learning in a more intense way as your rating recquires.\

However! I don't think rating is a good overview of your strength, it kinda depends how seriously you play online, how good your connection is, how much do you mouseslip and such. Tell me now what are the basics that you know

chamo2074

What about the middlegame/endgame basics?

chamo2074

9 perfect moves but then why Ke7??? This move messed it all up. HOwever I like the way you defended the Scholars mate

ok i already know to find tactics and get my king out in the endgame to support my remaining peices and pawns. and i know how to check mate with a queen and a rook. I can sometimes see 2 move or even 3 move tactics, theyre terrible, i sometimes mess them up, but youll have to go to some of my recent games for it. what would you suggest me to learn?

Learn: Q+K vs K, 2R + K v K, R v K, also do learn Q+K v K and B/N, make sure you know all the basic tactics, also learn opposition, King and Pawn endings and Outside passed pawn. For the endgame, I will recommend Silman's endgame course. Don't only do the diagrams but also do read the introductions and annotations as he explains a lot of stuff and believe me it is easy to read.

Here are some middlegame basics:

Take your worst placed piece and amelirorate it

What do weaknesses create?

1) Outposts for knights: Outposts are literally the perfect squares for knights, it will usually be a central square, whereas the knight cannot be kicked from by a pawn.

b) attacks on the king where you can sacrifice, to understand this, watch some vids about the sacrifice on h6 and the greek gift, and opposite side castling.
Some more positional stuff: (this is unrelated to weaknesses, I just numbered those for positional stuff

2) Open files for rooks, the rooks are very inactive in the opening, however, they can help you dominate being on an open file

3) good diagonals for bishops, the bishops usually have different squares to develop to, just determine which one is the best based on your future plans.

I am sure I forgot smth I am so sorry there is a TV near me I can't focus anymore lol will try to remember

Yes good bishop vs bad bishop:

A good bishop is literally the bishop that can freely move, without getting cramped by its pawns unlike the bad bishop, you would like to trade your bad bishop for your opponent's good bishop and vice versa.

I know this concept very well cz of the french defense which I play a loooooooooooooooot.

Now the pawn structure:

Everysingle pawn structure has got pros and cons. e.g doubled pawns can win you space but they can easily be targeted.

Some easily targeted pawns:

Isolated pawn: an Isolated pawn is basically a pawn which doesn't have a brother next to it so it has to be defended with pieces, if you have an isolated pawn position, keep as many pieces on the board as it gives you attacking chances + if you trade this pawn will be harder to defend as you wont have as many pieces.

Doubled pawns: At first sight connected doubled pawns can be defended and it is ok to have them, but you'll always have to keep one undefended.

Isolated doubled pawns: Literally no brother, but on the same file, dont have that you can lose two pawns, but agains every kind of doubled pawns can create open files, if you can put a rook there you are fine

Hanging pawns: Hanging pawns are an island of only two connected pawns which are also hardly defended

Backward pawn:  a Backward pawn is a pawn which is connected, but it can't be easily defended because its brother is very furtherly pushed

chamo2074

Now you don't have to memo those as it is a bit of advanced stuff, just read them have an idea, improve get tips from the higher-rated players (like 2000+), and chose what to master and what not based on your rating progress. Any questions?

Start playing daily games.  You’ll get a lot better faster then playing blitz.  You can also play rapid 30 min games but not as good as the daily games.  The analysis feature in daily games really helps you when considering what moves to make.
