My Favorite Gambit ( So far )

Italian Koltanowski Gambit. I've played this opening with probably an 80 percent success rate. It's a very solid gambit. I just played it the other night and I think it kind of speaks for itself. Very solid gambit with a LOT of tricks and tactical opportunities.

So what's your favorite gambit? I'm curious. Heck, even least favorite is interesting. For example I hate the Stafford gambit. Now you. 😁😁😁

Good vibes to everyone. 🙏

I like this one to open up my dragon bishop on the long diagonal. Not sure what the opening is called but it’s fun and easy to play, otherwise I’m stuck with a closed position:

it used to be smith morra back when all you needed to know was Qe2/Rd1/Rc1, and you could win 90% of your games catching whatever tactical slip up your opponent made, but theory has progressed and it's ANOTHER booked up sicilian maze now, but i'm still liking king's gambit, if not a few lines there, especially declined

LEAST FAVORITE? latvian is NOT a reversed king's gambit. i don't even consider it a gambit when main lines leave you with wrecked castling rights while your opponent just chases your queen while developing every piece he or she has. NEVER AGAIN!

i REALLY want to drop the scandinavian and learn rousseau/luccini/jaenisch -schliemann/calbrese even if those aren't exactly king's gambits either, but there IS a reversed falkbeer variation, and i love beating falkbeers down DESPITE their "best stats against KG"

ANY gambit against the french! after getting annoyed that every trench weasel refuses to accept the monte carlo, i'm finding they dodge the alapin diemer too and i'm seeing way too many franco sicilians lately. gawd I hate french players! cowards i say! come out and fight like a man ya trench weasel!

Oh, okay, I’ll check YT out. I start off with 1.Nf3 because I mirror the Grunfeld ands it’s been successful as white.

In your game I much prefer on that fourth move knight takes e5 instead. Black is usually thrown off, but must recapture with knight either way. Then you push d4 forking both pieces. You end up with at worst bishop for a knight and strong initiative and some center control.

exceptionalfork

I think the Budapest is my favorite.

I also like the King's Gambit, but I don't know it as well.

It's not even close for my least favorite. The Duras Gambit.

 @GooseChess

I'll post a link to a YouTube video I watched on this Gambit. I understand your idea with the fork but there are also many other great ideas and tricks and traps in the move order I went with. Not saying the sequence you prefer isn't good, I just always play this Gambit when I get the chance. After knight F6 I push D4 every time. I'm studying the main line and a couple of side lines from the Evans Gambit and I hope to add that to my repertoire soon.

@GooseChess Actually Nxe5 is a mistake. After Black takes the knight on e5 and after white forks with d4 black can just capture the bishop on c4 and white takes the bishop but is now a piece down. So unfortunately that doesn't work.

Whoops, I always bring the second knight out and forgot this position has the bishop instead.

I just posted some gambits here and I'd be curious to know what you think.

As far as the Italian game goes, this is the variation I like.
