Yes it is Chinese, as seen from the title.

sndeww

For english people:

Title says "how to move the pieces"

OP says: "king, queen, elephant (bishop), soldier (pawn), horse(knight), carraige(rook).

I wish I actually bothered to learn chinese when I was younger, now I need google translate lmao

No, It’s Car/rook because Chinese character 车 basically means car

If only it were so easy, we would not need human translators anymore. But, I can tell you that while Google Translate is fine, it is still far from perfect, and it is quite awful when it comes to translate expressions or words with multiple meanings.

Yes, 车 means car in our modern society, but those translations were probably made before cars existed. And, before cars existed there were carriages, basically 马车. Therefore I'd say "carriage" is actually a better translation than "car".

We will start from the lowest in the hierarchy of pieces.

Pawns move differently from their counterparts in Xiangqi, they can move 1 or 2 square(s) forward on their first move, but they move 1 square forward after that. They capture by taking the piece that is one square diagonally apart. They cannot capture diagonally.

The horse has a special movement, it moves in a “L” shape, it can move in any direction 2 squares, then turn 90 degrees and move 1 square, or it can move 1 square, then 2. It is different from the Xiangqi horse in the way that it can jump over pieces, and other pieces cannot “step on the horse’s foot”, but it can only attack the pieces in the positions that it can move to.

*This is all I want to translate now

*I understand how to speak “Chinese” (Mandarin)
