I think everyone has ups and downs in chess. Sometimes it's hard to pin down what makes one day good and the next day a hot mess - It seems to me to be sort of a matter of focus and concentration.
But, I feel like there are bad days, and then there are next level slumps... from experienced players - do you ever have times that are really more than just a bad day - where you just aren't seeing the board well at all? Like you feel slow and several moves behind? or you have trouble even identifying strengths and weaknesses in a position and make ridiculous moves that cost a whole game? etc...
This has stood out to me recently in tactics as well, there are days I'm right on, and days where it almost doesn't matter what move I make, it's going to be wrong.
If this is an issue for you, how do you deal with it? take a break? work your way through it? study and practice more and play less? or vice vera?
Thanks for your help.
