Which time control to choose?

I've been playing rapid 30 mins game but I often see hour long ganes recommended as a better option for beginners, i usually am rushed for time tbh. But I don't see an hour long option in the "new game" field, I put hour long in the custom game option but couldn't find an opponent.

45|45 is the closest you are going to get.  There simply aren't enough slow chess players to add more choices.

on chess.com 30 min rapid is the “best” longer time control

you will get the best competition at a rating level here

lichess works better for longer games (30/30 is good; 45/45 also has an active pool) with increments and has available players to play these games

there are also clubs on chess.com that specialize in playing longer games

maybe consider a 1 day per move game. that helped me a lot so I wasn't rushing and can focus on tactics and planning more then rushing. you can play multiple games at once and obviously if your opponent is more active then you can make multiple moves at once. I've had up to 15 games run at once and jumping between them helped reinforce my memory. but start with a couple and when you have a dedicated time to play the the 45min or 30min game as people suggest

Maybe silly, but I think I've progressed more when cutting the time to play. Simply having more games under the belt makes you see more positions. Sure, in short term my rating struggled but in the long(er) run (6 months) I was able to bring the rating up by around 300. My two cents, and I agree, it may not work for everyone.
