Why losing in chess hurts so much

.. because you don't understand where these feelings truly come from. When I first started playing I remember I would become angry when I lost, not responding to opponents friend requests after lost games, immature things such as wishing for a decline in their performance and generally a feeling of anger towards my opponent even. But then I remember what good friend of mine told me. Anger is a secondary emotion, what made you feel angry to begin with? And recently I've held this question in my mind simply pondering any possible deeper meaning. But it's really not that deep. My anger simply comes from my disappointment in myself. That I didn't play well enough to make it a better game. I'm simply angry at myself because I know I can do better. And not understanding where these feelings and doubts have come from has hindered my motivation to continue playing.

With this fresh in my mind, I will try to carry a new attitude into my games. To play with absolute confidence and conviction until superior play by my opponent or inferior play on my part forces me to analyze, review, and renew my mind with fresh ideas and newfound knowledge with which to forge my path along my chess journey.

Good luck to everyone on your journey. Year two begins for me very soon and there is A LOT of work to be done. 😤🤜🤛
