If you've already graduated from college, you notice that for every chess game you play, you lose the memory of one thing you learned in college.

After I'd finished a game last night, I confirmed this theory:  I could still define onomatapoeia, but I no longer knew the shape of a benzene ring.

what is onomtapoeia????

onomatopoeia is a word sounding like the noise it represents, for example, boom and bang are words to describe explosions, the sound a dog makes is woof, the sound of rain falling is pitter patter.

Thanks for explaining onomatopoeia, colinsaul.  I sometimes forget the  size of the big old lumpy pile of useless information that clutters up my brain.  Things like All the lyrics to the "Mr. Ed" themesong ... Why, oh why, is that still stuck in there?  Why can't I make it go Away?  If I could, then maybe I'd have room to learn some new chess openings ....;-D!

You'd sell your entire family just to buy a house that is big enough to fit in the world's largest chess board and pieces.

My thoughts?  You "may" be playing chess "too much" if your Brain Actually Generates this Idea:

That someone might Sell his or her ""entire family" in order to "buy a House that is big enough to fit in the world's largest chess board and pieces."

Wow.  That's impressive.  (Now, I'm not saying you play chess "too much," of course, but ......... Wow.)  (;-D!)

To be honest, I do play chess quite a lot. I've logged onto this site every day for the past 3 or so years. I also have other chess sites on which I play. I just love chess so. It's one of the best games ever created, in my opinion.
