Chessboard Kingdoms

Anyone fancy computer chess with a bunch of new pieces, large boards/maps, various and detailed terrains with hills and obstacles, up to 4 players per match, and tons of customizations?

We are working on a game called Chessboard Kingdoms (currently for PC only). It has chess mechanics at its core and bridges the gap between modern turn-based strategies and old-school classics. Or so we want to believe. Anyway, we are trying to keep everything sane up to the point that this game can ultimately be thought of as a chess variant and be played on a board, if you so choose.

Speaking of chess pieces, our extended set includes walls, gates, guard towers (stationary and shoot in a perimeter), catapults (move and make ranged attacks), engineers (build walls and towers), settlers (build town centers), and wizard (alters how other pieces move when they get into his area of effect). Not to mention a variety of unique buildings, which are stationary pieces.

Of course, we also have the standard deal of pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, viziers (queens), and kings.

Beta test is happening right now and if you're interested in trying it out, you can reach us at the link below. We can extend the beta for you if you mention that you are coming from chess.com, since we're sharing the info here a little late into the beta.

We're currently inclined on making the game free. Our plan is to release as an Early Access game on Steam to start with. Release is coming pretty soon.

News: Chessboard Kingdoms is now available on Steam in Early Access. We decided to set a small price for the game, as we currently don't have all the necessary ingredients for making a successful launch into free-to-play format.
