Invent the craziest new chess piece

The crazy disguised pawn.

When captured, creates eight replicas of the piece that captured it in your colour.

Look at the list of all chess variations there's some awesome ones.

My favorite pieces are the ones invented in capablanca chess and Omega chess.

Courtesan. Can move only one move in any direction. Can't eat anybody, but when it is near opponents piece that piece can't move because it's having a good time with the courtesan.

"The joker" you can turn it into any piece at anytime in the game.

@Havumaki that's similar to the magician in Superchess

@David210 Superchess actually has a joker - it always moves and captures like the last moved opponent's piece.

The Pope:  in the a2 and h2 place, it can move 2 forward and 3 sideways.  If both taken before the 20th move you have lost the game.  In notation it will say: ex. Pe4 or Pa6 so on.  If you move a pawn to the end, you can make it a Pope, it will say: ex. b=P.  If this piece was actually added into chess, there would be so many new openings about how to take the Popes earliy or defened the Popes.  It would make the game a little harder.

The Duke can move in any eight-square combination (like a king), no more and no less.

It would start out replacing the bishops at c1 + f1, which then replace the pawns on c2 + f2.

For example: D-a1:

  1. Da2
  2. Da3
  3. Db4
  4. Dc5
  5. Dd6
  6. Dd7
  7. De7
  8. Df7

However, it cannot move onto a square where capturing it would result in check:

The Duke can only capture three pieces in his eight-move journey.

The turnimaters as super pawns that turn into whatever piece they capture.

The Mother in Law: Moves like a king. If a queen attempts to take it, she also selfdestructs.

The archer. It moves one space at a time like a king, but it can kill from a distance by simply removing pieces from the board, and it doesn’t move to kill. It kills any piece within a three-square radius away from its position; if you have it in a corner, it guards exactly one fourth of the board. You also don’t start with an archer, you have to promote a pawn to one. It’s useful for killing pieces without moving to a spot where it may be in danger itself, but it’s not very mobile so it may not be as useful as a Queen depending on the situation.
A piece can be within killing range of the archer but may not always be killed if the player wants to use their turn differently.

The slinky: Once captured it travels a forward diagonal knocking out all pieces in its path.

The Invisible Grim Reaper:

You can’t see this piece. It is completely invisible. Basically you pick an empty square and write it down before the game. When the game starts and your opponent lands on that square, the piece is captured. Then you can pick another square. Now if your opponent’s king lands on this square it is game over and you win!

The Caroline Reaper.

If you take it you must eat it.
