Look at the list of all chess variations there's some awesome ones.
My favorite pieces are the ones invented in capablanca chess and Omega chess.

Courtesan. Can move only one move in any direction. Can't eat anybody, but when it is near opponents piece that piece can't move because it's having a good time with the courtesan.
@Havumaki that's similar to the magician in Superchess
@David210 Superchess actually has a joker - it always moves and captures like the last moved opponent's piece.

you sure do love superchess mate.
The Pope: in the a2 and h2 place, it can move 2 forward and 3 sideways. If both taken before the 20th move you have lost the game. In notation it will say: ex. Pe4 or Pa6 so on. If you move a pawn to the end, you can make it a Pope, it will say: ex. b=P. If this piece was actually added into chess, there would be so many new openings about how to take the Popes earliy or defened the Popes. It would make the game a little harder.

Sounds good without the both taken results in win part
well thats only in the first 20 moves
true that would add a fun new element and opening strategy to the game
The Duke can move in any eight-square combination (like a king), no more and no less.
It would start out replacing the bishops at c1 + f1, which then replace the pawns on c2 + f2.
For example: D-a1:
However, it cannot move onto a square where capturing it would result in check:
The Duke can only capture three pieces in his eight-move journey.
The crazy disguised pawn.
When captured, creates eight replicas of the piece that captured it in your colour.
