Ok, first sorry if my title is a little misleading. However, the fact that out of 100 responses from normal people on facebook when asked to name a game that does not contain the letter "A" Chess is mentioned Just Once
.
This is clearly something not for children's ears. So lock the bathroom door, cover the kiddie's eyes or at least light a match...
Twister
Crossfire
Monopoly
Full throttle
Skip bo
Connect four
Dice
Test drive: Unlimited
Ditch'em
Wrestling
Jump rope/Double Dutch
Soccor. Bridge. Whist. Pinnochle. Gin. Rummy. Gin Rummy. Euchre. Minesweeper. Horseshoes. and many more.
What is the deal with all the internet quiz questions about things without the letter "A"? This the 3rd one I have heard today.
there was also only one response for "sex" so all is not lost.
1 chess...odd.Hmmmmm
even if there were 101 responses for chess, it would still be odd.
I love the list that one guy uses to call himself a video game veteran.
Where did these responses come from? If it was Facebook, all bets are off, because people who do Facebook tend to be way more interested in people (friends, faces, relationships, socializing, etc.) than in intellectual pursuits.
ETA: So it was Facebook - okay.
Read the OP.

what a shame if i hadnt wasted my time with video games but played chess i probably would be master now lol
You are making the assumption there are normal people on fb.
i didn't know chess was an intellectual pursuit!!

Pretzel logic.
Please explain. It seems to me that the logic is very straightforward.
First of all....Did you define the word "intellect"? No.
Intellectual pursuits are activities that challenge the brain or mind. You want me to define intellect too. Okay, so the one that comes up number one when you type 'define:intellect' into Google seems reasonable to me: 'The faculty of reasoning and understanding objectively, esp. with regard to abstract or academic matters.'
Second, "people interested in people" is an "intellectual pursuit"
That's interesting. I would disagree though, unless you meant it in the academic sense.
Third, the fact that if it's on facebook makes it "OK" seems a bit of a stretch.
Not sure what you mean by that. Is it to do with "So it was Facebook - okay"?
if chess is an intellectual pursuit, why does it attract such high quantities of non-intellectual people ?
I hate all these facebook games.
All that made me realize was that the only good games without the letter A in the title are the Metroid series.
Original Metroid +1
before that
Legend of Zelda~
