how often do you think that a real strong chess player 2200+ pretend he cannot play chess and ask someone to learn them chess and after that beat them for the fun of it.
or go to a chess club and tell them that he want to learn chess and after that beat all players in the club.
I think on some level that might be funny.

Seriously thats the coolest chess idea i heard in month. Seriously i find it brilliant... actually i find it so good, i think we should find someone and really do it and film it with a hidden camera and make a movie about it. But even without that, i wish i knew someone who does that, the idea i phenomenally good and i just love it!!! probably the best laugh you can get in chess.

There is an amusing fictitous story about that on this site somewhere.

Play against some low levels on live chess, and take a note their mistakes.

Yeah. Chess and comedy rarely go together, but when they do, it's one of the best things that you can find in comedy! for example-http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-analysis/epic-knight by me

Lasker did that

At what 'level' would it be the slightest bit amusing? Somewhere deep in the bowls of the earth perhaps? Or ringing someone's bell, waiting for them to answer the door and running away might  be a possible analogy?

heinzie

Lara Stock did it as well

I completely agree. People who find this funny have something seriously wrong ticking in their head. No wonder they chose chess as a passtime, of all games.

In Berkeley, there was a chess shark named Walter who played chess for money.  If he wasn't playing for much, he would make blunders or do ridiculous things like sacrifice a queen to try and get the other player to up the ante.

Yeah you have to watch out when they say, "Why don't we make this game a little more interesting?"

or if a woman suddenly wants to play strip chess and she turns out to be an unknown wgm or nearly a wgm. sorry could not resist writing that joke.

since not everybody knows all kind of chess variant this joke is still safe.

entering a tournament under 1700 being rated way above takes the fun out of it.
in the article they said that they could only win 40$ so no harm was done....of course harm has been done they stole the opportunity for a another to win under 1700. it is a tournament not a joke...all others paid 22$ with no real opportunity to win.

Sounds fun to me! While a WGM might slaughter me, I reckon that by playing aggressively there'd be a lot of pieces (and thus clothes) lost regardless :)
