To Play Chess Or To Play Poker, That Is The Question !
I got tired of playing for play money (also the site I was using didn't seem to like my ancient hardware).
Well I would say that playing any old-style game on-line is just for fun ( ie: playing Chess, Poker, Blackjack, Hearts etc etc on-line ). We have a lot of very good players on this site that are way up there above say the 1900 level and beyond however it's all in fun at this point. I like to play Poker but I'm too cheap to risk real money gambling with cards ( I do buy lottery tickets tho lol ).

I think that really good chess players are good at poker. I have no idea (though I could guess) about the results of terrible players.
I would imagine that there are plenty of good chess players who are bad at Poker, or vice-versa. However, the two games do share some similarities in what kind of mind it takes to excel at either game. For example, a good memory can be helpful to chess study/pattern recognition and a good memory could also help a Poker player retain ranges, odds, and hand information efficiently. Another similarity is how both games involve the player attempting to minimize risk. In Poker, the cases where risk management is prevalent are numerous, but in chess the same idea applies to developing and waiting for the opponent to slip up (so you can take advantage of it) just like in Poker.
Also, I would love to hear more responses in this forum of mine from fellow Poker players:

--- Ah yes that reminds me of a time when I was a lad out on the farm and we used to raise some hogs. At one time we used to feed up to 150 of the chubby critters ( Also Thanks for the posts and bumps. Remember people that any little post at all restarts the robot lol ).

Real chess players play with only one perspective And that is the goal to succeed in chess Not cases like poker
