I would say it is probably the pawn.

Knight.

Even in Russian Literature... In the famous Russian novel "12 Chairs"... "Four Knights Club"... provincial chess club...  figures.

Knight is a very romantic piece.

Here's a picture that shows up in Google Images for "chess pawn".  Interesting.

Knight is better than a pawn.

He is more fast and dangerous.

True, I guess the knight is as iconic, if not more iconic, as the pawn.

But when one reaches the back ranks, they can be promoted to Any piece! Excluding the king, and pawn, of course!

I prefer the knight! The unique movements makes it a dangerous piece on the board.

Yes. It's like in real life.

Pawn

It has to be the Knight...Paladin's business card proves it.

The queen has an interesting background and it is the strongest piece.

King for sure. The game wouldn’t happen without royalty.
Avatar of Lino_Di_Luca

the king of course !

The king.  The word 'chess' is derived from the old Persian word 'shah', meaning 'king'.
