Why "poor opponent"? Any advantage ebbed and flowed until Black blundered. In the end I suspect Black resigned due to 28.Qxg7# vs 27...g6 28.Qxd7 or 27...Nxf6 28.Nxf6 losing the exchange.
Definitely not a "poor opponent" and if I was a gambling man I'd wager if you played another 9 games the score line would be around 5-5
