Accepting the obvious (part one)

      Here is a selection of mistakes typical of average club players.

         Black spent 5-10 minutes looking for ways to stop mate both a7 and c7. There are three different mating patterns.  Check this out!

1) 1....   Nxc6    2 Nc7+   Kb8     3 Na6+   Ka8   4 Qb8+   R/Nxb8  5 Nc7  mate.

2) 1....   bxc6    2 Rxa7 mate

3) 1....   a6        2 Nc7 mate                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

But there is a brillant move to save the game. Surprisingly, black resigned!
