Hi everyone!

Now some of you might watch some free youtube videos on the net. Some of them are good, but I like these chess.com ones better. They're worth paying for. Anyway, Majnu2006, has a great chess method to Improve your thinking. Especailly for you beginners out there, this is a great method. To help your calculation and thinking skills. This method helped me think more in my games. in 90/30, I went from 60 minutes left-30minutes-20minutes and now i usually end my games with under 10 minutes, which shows good time management.

So, I'm going to play around with Majnu2006's idea. If you haven't already watched his video, click on this link to see how this 20 minute excersize works.

So, by using his secret, I'm going to make a test for Under 1200 players. I'm going to select my own and other games where some positions are puzzles, and some are just normal positions. I will not tell you so you're going to have to figure it out yourself. Remmember, use your beginner calculating skills in my other forum. If you haven't read it, take some time to read it. If you have read it, I still reccomend you still read it. I won't consider it cheating even if you look at it during your process

Go through all the steps. I will show the opponents move before analysing the position.

So, I suggest that you think for 20 minutes or more. Sometimes 20 minutes isn't enough. This is a good time to go through every single possibility on the chess board.

Good Luck! Make sure in every puzzle/position, you calculate before making your move.

Oh my mistake

Poldi_der_Drache

hmm in game 1 how about 4. Qd5 instead of Bxf7+?

Didn't check with a computer but I think this would be better for white:
4.Qd5 Qf6
5.Qxf7+ Qxf7
6.Rxd7...

Poldi_der_Drache

Actually I was wrong 4.Bxf7+ is better.

4.Qd5 Qf6 5.Qxf7+ Qxf7 6.Bxf7+ Kxf7 7.Rxd7+... might be possible.

Cynicalism

Is it good or bad that these have taken me an average of about 2 minutes to finish? And those that take me that long/longer are because I try alternative almost-as-good or as good moves?

Like in gunderson vs faul instead of 7. hxg6# I kept trying the more obvious qxg5 (which would force kh7, then qg7#)

Why not just play correspondence and think 20min over your own positions? Same thing but you get to play your own games.

Plus posting puzzles where there is a clear winning move is completely besides the point of the exercise.
