Brilliant Moves in New Game Analysis Report

Sort:
moox1111

and most of the time, only time i get them now is in bullet games, where you play quick, so its just something to think about lol

theChessBlackPanther

I get most in rapid. Only one is Blitz, and 0 bullet.

Does anyone know if there is a way to 'rank' their game scores...so one can see their top overall scores?

Phlox

@Cornfed They seem to be working on a "Most Accurate Games" sorting option according to the gif in this post https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/archive-redesign-what-do-you-think

Thanks, I had not noticed.

However, this only concerns 'Archive'....one can't save everything into that. I am actually asking if one could do that within....say their INSIGHTS data.

Right now, there is just a lot of 'eye candy' there....not much way to make use of it.

For example, categorizing standard tactical ideas missed would be ideal for the improver and make the Diamond membership more worthwhile. Ex: "Deflection", "Decoy", "Loose pieces" which could be won if only you had spotted them (John Nunn's famous 'LPDO' - loose pieces drop off, "Back Rank", "Overworked Pieces", "Trapped Pieces", etc.

That kind of info should be there...and would be SO HELPFUL in helping the improver target just where they need to study.

I don't get why this is brilliant. It's just a mate in 2

when you sacrifice a piece, the engine goes crazy

It's not.

Chess.com has dumbed down the commentary to the point that is laughable.

To understand what a brilliant move is just look at this board that happened in one of my blitz games. Go to move 30. Can you find the brilliant move for the black pieces? (I didn't of course within the game so computer gives ?? for my move) It is the only move that wins all the rest draw/loosing.

Obviously the key is the back rank and b2 issues, so 30...Rf3 to deflect either the Queen or the Bishop from the c2 square.

That said, your Kh7 isn't a '??' you are still better off anyway.  Basically this is the same ANY chess algorithm 'suffers' from - a poor excuse for AI. Really, a '??' should be a 'losing' move instead of one that simply gives away a significant part of your advantage because one move might be SOOOOO much better.  That unless we want to add '???' or even '????' to our normal chess lexicon. wink

So yes you found this move but is it really "obviously"?? And if yes you think one could count on a blitz game the very difficult 5-moves mate after Bishop takes rook which is the most obvious answer?

They changed the brilliant move sysytem.

Last time it was the only winning move, I think.

"We replaced the old Brilliant algorithm with a simpler definition: a Brilliant move is when you find a good piece sacrifice"

Pzxchess

It is just a piece sacrifice that is best even if it is not the only move that wins. I don't know about the old algorithm.
