Can you counter Queen Trades?

Who has won over half his games!!!!!

Are you more concerned about improving , or a rating?

There are two typical antidotes to this problem:

1) Get good at endgames, so that a trade of Queen-for-Queen puts you right in your comfort zone. Then your opponent is just playing into your hands by offering a Queen trade.

2) Use your Queen as a support piece (like Artillery) instead of trying to use it to spearhead the attack. He can't trade it off if you haven't exposed it.

1 is probably better, I find that most times a side cant force a queen exchange without entering an endgame in which he had to make some concessions.

Of course I'm more concerned about improving, why did you ask me that

@Diakonia ego is good, wanting to win games is normal, wanting to crush everyone and have a cool rating is normal, and its probably part of why all of us play chess. Sure, we enjoy the game and that should be important , but wanting to win is also a big factor.

You can call it motivation or whatever, but wanting to win is also important.

Then the best advice i can give you is this:

1. Get rid of the ego.

2. Dont insult your opponents.

3. Be honest about your abilities.  Youre not an Expert.  Youre a beginner.

4. When youre offered advice, be grateful, and appreciative.

5. LISTEN to that advice.

Ego is fine as long as youre not letting it dictate your actions.

Diakonia, I'm not the op

Lol. I thought the same, tomatogoat seems down to earth.

I'm no expert but if the OP wants to limit the harassment of his queen isn't the Scandinavian defense  THE worst opening he could choose?

I got the impression that he wants to run around with his Queen, picking stuff off, but WITHOUT having it harassed by enemy pieces.

Me? I want a million dollars without working for it.

tomatogoat

yeah that's fine I made that kind of mistake once too

If you are going to trade queens, develop while trading, it is possible to exchange in tempo for development. Aron Nimzozwitch has explained this in his chess praxis book.

So....we're even at 1 a piece?

We used to leave our cell phones on our desks, and when someone got up and left, someone would go over and tap the photo icon 100 times.  Now we all lock our phones, or take them with us.

Lets say it involves fingerprints.

@CHT192: Fair enough. You may be the best player in your school, but that's because almost all "casuals" are sub-800 patzers. (The one exception to this rule is a math teacher who I think plays at a good 1200 level.)

But you are no expert.

I played an OTB rapid game against an Expert a week ago. If you want, I'll post it so you can see what Expert-level play looks like in a rapid game on a bad day.

This thread is asinine!  There's a simple solution (barring immediate tactics).  If his queen is active, and yours is passive, or if you have a space disadvantage, let him trade!  It only helps you!

If your queen is more active than his, or if you have a huge space advantage and he is suffocating, don't trade!  Move away!

Qxd1/d8 cases are usually no good for the one initiating the trade.  If the Rook is connected, you develop my Rook for me.  If not, and I have to do King takes, then following up with c3 and Kc2 (or c6 and Kc7) with no queens on the board and I'm totally safe and my opponent has no advantage at all!

You need to study ideas on when to liquidate and when not to.  Forget about the Queen!  She's only 1 of 16 pieces you have.  Look at the big picture.  The actual position!

Hacking?

Most works I can think off do not involve your boss running around the office checking if you are working or on chess.com lol.
