The comments posted above are good.  What has always amazed me is the number of people who don't know how to mate with K+R vs K!?  Any player who wants to play seriously should know this sequence.

Incidentally, the same position, but with the black bishop on a8 instead of b7 is not possible.

It can be done(if you have opposite colored bishops) but the player being mated would have to make a sloppy move to get into that situation. Save some time and call a draw.

 True, but it would be possible to have the black bishop on a8 if the black king were on f2 instead of f1. Wink
