I can see a mate in three if he captures with fxe5, but dxe5 lets him escape, no?

this position appeared in a blitz game recently where I played this tactic (as white) but I didn't calculate all variations and I was fairly lucky that my opponent didn't play the best variation (maybe).
did black have a way to stop my attack?
