Ever mouse-slip into an opening you hate?

In response to 1. e4, I always play e5. Weeeeell .... As an e4 player myself I ABHOR the French defense.. well lookie here .. I just kinda forced myself to play through as i was already severely tilted and wanted to see what this opening might present. Needless to say it went my way. I might have to give the French a chance. Oui oui. Tres Bon.

I find the French defence to be a nightmare as well.

Check out the Alapin gambit next time you see the French. Really fun way to mess with French players best laid plans.

I don't remember ever having a mouse slip, but I'm really scared of it. Sometimes when I'm annoyed, tilted, etc., I can play carelessly, but somehow I have never had a mouse slip.

Learn some theory /positional ideas for the French defence

Since I play the French myself it is my favorite opening to crush it gets pretty easy to play with white if you know how to play it with black learn what you hate so your opponents hate it instead of you

Once in an OTB tournament I sat down at my board and played what I thought was 1. e4, moving the pawn in front of my king. At the time, this was the only starting move I knew how to play. When my opponent got to the board (he was a couple minutes late), he pointed out that my king and queen were switched. I realized I had actually played 1.d4, and I had to play through lines I had never seen before against a higher-rated opponent. It wasn't too fun to play that game 😂

Ever slipped into the Van't Kruij's Opening as White? Yep. That was the "e4" problem

I once inexplicably thought I was playing white when I was actually black. I played what I thought was 1 c4, which the site accepted as a premove, turning my intended English Opening into a Duras Gambit.

One of the reasons why I prefer the daily games - move confirmation.
