First of my wins that I'm trying to analyse.

Hi everyone. My first post here so forgive me if I get something wrong or mess something up.

I'm posting a game I recently won. I know I should probably post the ones I lost (I usually blunder obviously when I lose as I'm only beginning) but I was looking for opinions on this winning game for a few reasons:

1) I'm a beginner really, so I was curious as to what extent was the win down to my good play and how much was down to my opponents mistakes/bad play? I'm not really experienced to know where black made mistakes and/or see alternatives. I'd like some feedback as I'm trying to play through other variations if black had moved differently. I feel I did play well and this might be a good game to take positives out of into future games?

2) I've looked at the Queen's Gambit a little and its the first opening(s) I've started to study in any way. I think I set it up reasonably well but I'm wondering how a higher rated opponent might set up some counter-play and exploit my weaknesses in similar opening positions. Where would you have targeted if you were playing black, any traps I could have fallen into?

Good game.

You questioned his h6 but it was to prevent your Ng5.  What was the point of your 12 h3?

His g6 was terrible and you could have taken it right away and you would have 3 pawns and a naked king for your bishop.

His Na5 just left his king a little more naked.

I like 21 Bxf7 more than Bh7+ because he could have played on longer with 23 Qxh7.

But it doesn't really matter. Good game.

Thanks for the reply :)

I realised after I posted that his h6 was to prevent Ng5 and that was my reasoning for my similar move, don't know how I missed his intentions there! I did consider taking g6 right away but wanted to get my dark square bishop involved too and make sure to have as much attacking options as possible, but I see how he could have defended his kingside while I delayed.

Thanks for your input it was helpful :)
