Help Analyzing - Chess Forums

I haven't actually had any person analyze my games. I think it'll help me improve on my game as I never really actually had any personal advice from people I have only played through experience and watched some youtube videos so I think that if I could get opinions on what I should or shouldn't have done it'd be great.

Another game I played against who had about 400 ratings above me. I tried to post another with annotations but for some reason it didn't submit and I lost my annotations :/. I'll try to re-write what I wrote.

Here's my two most recent game:

For this game, I lost on time as I was making some noodles and spent a little bit too much time on certain moves. Nevertheless I think I was ahead at the start but I think I've made a few mistakes. I'm not sure too sure about what I should have done instead as I think I had some chances for a stronger attack and I made the wrong moves.

I spent some time writing on what I was thinking about when I moved so any other opinions would be great!

Sorry, I messed up somewhere in repeating this game. Ignore the variation and treat it as how the game played. Thanks!

You have a lot of global, general mistakes and misconceptions, and it's totally ok everyone has them. You fix these mistakes and move on and have other type of mistakes.

a) The first move that i really don't like is 2... Nf6. BAD, BAD. You simply let him 3. cd N:d5 4. e4 and he occupied the center. This could mean end of the game if you play someone over 2000.

b) 4... Nbd7? If you want to play Slav defense... play c6, Be7, Nbd7. Nbd7 and Bb4 deserve question marks

c) Then somehow the game started going OK and on move 12 the position is probably =.

d) On move 15 you are simply better, your opponent played horribly. I would probably play Qb6 instead of Bg4

e) 16.. Bc5 Good job!

f) 18... g6??? Why g6, before giving up the material , always see if there is anyway to counter attack. Moves such as g6 should be made if nothing else is left. you could have have tries 18. ...h5 19. h3 h4.

SO these are my thoughts. My other advice is to use the percise variations in your analysis. Such as i go here, he goes here, the treat is this, i counter attack with that... Interesting game. Good luck

Thank you very much for your analysis. I think I have to read up more on the book moves for openings as I have really only learnt the french defense (to a certain extent) and the Halloween's Gambit (which is probably only better in blitz games).

I did not think about pushing my h pawn forward at all. Thanks for that, I really did not want to play g6 but I thought it was the only way to save my bishop and I did not think he had sufficient threats to checkmate me. But I guess that would have been much better.

Thank you very much on your input. I wanted to move a3 because I was scared his pawn would move to a3. I did not think about e6. I was too focused on f,g, h-files I guess that was one of my problems. Next time I will though! Thanks so much for these, I thought I saw most of the moves by re-analyzing the game myself but I guess I missed out on a lot. I feel like this is helping a lot :).

Its always the same jackbaur! Its very hard to see everything especially when you look at it from the same point of view. Its good to get different (not necessarily better players although probably would be better) players to have a look.

I sent you a message with my thoughts yesterday as for some reason i couldnt post in this forum, and i was annoyed after writing the whole thing that i might not be able to post it. Hope it helped
