Hello !

If you play a game without playing any mistakes, missed wins, or blunders, but you don't always play the BEST move, is it possible that you loose it ?

You can, if it only have 1 move to not lose.

Although nobody knows what is the best move in any given position and what might be a mistake, the consensus among strong chess players is that it's possible to reach such a drawn game without either player making a mistake.

if its not mistake blunder or inaccuracy it doesnt give opponent much advantage to make him win game but thats only because computer thinks like that

I think if both the players are playing accurate without committing even a single inaccuracy then I guess It does depend a lot on psychology. For example look at Carlsen, he plays his opponents on the board, on the clock, in their minds, and their emotions, and in every combination of these until his opponents crack.

Yes, that's right, I think the same thumbup.png

It is possible. I have played matches like that. It depends on how you define what mistakes mean. If you continue to play 'good moves' and your opponent plays best moves, you will have +3 sooner around move 30

Can you put the link of your match here please ?

I think yes if your opponent always plays a higher ranked move than you

Black didn’t make any mistakes (following Stockfish’s principles), even if those are the worst moves for us humans… (DON’T SAY 23…Qf7 IS A MISTAKE, every other move made by black should be a mistake… SO PLEASE DON’T TRUST Stockfish’s principles all the times!!!!!)

There are only three true evaluations in the game of chess. And this is true of any position. 1. White is winning with best play. 2. Black is winning with best play. 3. The position is a draw with best play. Remember chess is a 100% tactical game, with perfect knowledge given to both sides.

So your question makes no sense. As any move the breaks the balance of the 3 three true evaluation. Would be consider not the best, and a mistake.

1. But given that IF chess is a forced win from the starting position. For either the white side, or the black side. It would be possible the play the losing side, and make no mistakes in that sense. And still lose.

2. You could also resign the game, but still play the game moves with no mistakes.

Hmmmm, but a good move is not so good as the best move, so, if the opponents only play best moves and you only play good moves...the opponent should win. Or nor ?

The concepts of "good" and "best" are different for humans and Stockfishes. This means that there isn't "good" or "best" or even "perfect" moves; everyone will think differently.

Any move that loses is a mistake, there isn't a good move that loses immediately.

It is definitely possible. If player 1 plays really well, gaining subtle positional advantages, and player 2 plays small, positional mistakes, eventually player 1 will have the better position and win.

Hm, actually losing by checkmate, maybe not.

By resignation, perhaps
