Italian Game-After failed Lolli Attack

I'm posting this game for comments.I had originally planned to use the Lolli attack, but after black played Bb4+,that plan went out the window and I decided to just attack the castled king.

I'd appreciate any comments, praise or critique.I've been playing chess since late Feb/early March,so any help is much appreciated. I'm eager to improve but it seems like a slow and arduous journey some days.

I'll include my comments after my moves and invites any comments from others.

Thanks,

Interesting game, which can be divided into two completely different halves - you didn't play the opening well, failing to follow through after the early central pawn push. You didn't make the most of your own possibilities, and you failed to see or underestimated your opponent's threats.

Then Black made a mistake however, and after your Bxh7 you played a perfect attack! This was slightly marred by not seeing the check leading to a forced mate, but Black blundered and you took instant advantage.

All in all, I think you were over-hasty in wanting to start the attack with your minor pieces before you'd fully developed and castled. You have to build your position first, trying to position each piece to the maximum advantage, unless of course your opponent leaves an early chink in the armour somewhere, which he didn't here until move 11.

But congratulations on your attack, keep it up!

Thanks for your comments and advice.Part of my problem, I think,is I can get tunnel vision during a game and I don't have full board awareness.I know a few different ways to mate if I recognize then I have a tendency to try to force one of those through.I think I need to take a step back and evaluate the overall position of all the pieces.I find this a bit difficult in blitz games since I always seem to be at a bit of a time disadvantage.I think I will play some longer games, which will allow me additional time to evaluate my position.

All comments are welcomed!

That's a problem we all know! You were concentrating on building an attack on the king, and when Black allowed you to grab the centre by not accepting the pawn it should have been time to rethink ... always try to play the position, and forget about previous plans if better opportunities arise. Easier said than done though. Playing more longer games is definitely a good idea.
