My 1st Brilliancy!

Sort:
BowlCutBarbarian

I started playing in Feb 2021 & have gotten in 511 games in these 10 months. After considerable slogging I recently hit 2285 in puzzles and was pleasantly surprised to discover that today Chess.com reckons I played a brilliancy to win this Daily 960:

Here is the position, Black to play 2 moves & White resigns:

Why would they resign after Rxe3?

DrSpudnik

I keep staring at that knight on h8 wondering how it got there.

Wait...

MyNameIsNotBuddy

It probably moved there before the g pawn moved at all

But it's Chess 960 so maybe it was there at the start

Chess.com's engine is known to be very weird. Too much booze, probably.

Looking at a move that is clearly worse than any random move and calling it "brilliant" is just hilarious.

Thanks to all for participation, but nobody actually guessed the move:

15.     ... Bxe3

16. Qxe3 ... Rxe3

... and here's the whole game, if you'd like to play it through:

What happens is that some programmer needs to check the chess.com engine because it is bugged.

You can see on the picture that according to the engine, Qe5 is the best move, while Bxe3 (which is worse) is "brilliant". Bxe3 also does not make any sense, it has no tactical justification. It just gives up a piece for no reason.
