Got paired vs a 1600, but they accepted the Vienna gambit. You don't do that, lol. Now they aren't 1600. I'm still new to that opening and not familiar with all the ways to use your edge, but I still came out on top. Definitely things to be learned.

They want a rematch and I give them one. We get into the Scandi and they fall into a small fork. I get a better position as my choice to delay castling this game pays off big here. I think they outplay me to a near even position and despite having the lead on time, they are the ones who break as we near the endgame and I acquire material, an attack, and checkmate.

Reminds me of my game vs Bezpro on December 14 (post 17), I face a lower rated player (high 1300s low 1400s type), let there be an opening to my king, (both times on the queenside, not sure if that's relevant yet), and hold on to my material but am absolutely losing if they come down. They miss it, I hold on as we trade down and they end up screwing up and letting me win the endgame. There might be a problem with my king safety on these kinds of a/h file openings. I've gotten lucky and not been punished for it.
