Nice game, nice annotations!

Good game. I think  it all started with 9...Ng4. He must have thought it is a quiet position, what could possibly go wrong? Maybe he put too much faith in Nd4?

From the result of the game the Nd4 is not a good plan. Did you just refute a line there?

I wouldn't have thought of playing 10.Nd5. I didn't know how you would follow up with the positional sac. I wouldn't have guessed 12.d6! I might have done some patzer stuff like 12.Bg5? trying to get the cheap Rd1 and then d6 for a free knight...Smile

Terrific game.

Very Morphy-esque.

Congrats on your first victory over an FM, and it was a beauty, too!

I foresee good things in your chess future.

Congs. sire... loved the game.. I hope you to be a titled and good player :D

Congratulations, beautiful game.

However, this FM has currently a FIDE rating of 2000. Normally has a FM a rating over 2300. You should have mentioned the difference imo.

You are aware of the difference yourself: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/how-to-achieve-fm-title?lc=1 :-)

For the position you stopped notating, although I preferred white at first, I think I might prefer black now. His pieces are relatively well coordinated and is still slightly up in material. I wonder how the game continued, an open board with a queen against many pieces, the inaccuracies must have been fun ones.

Good game!

InfiniteFlash

So much sacking, great game to have played. If you managed to sack your queen for some forced win, looks like this would be catagorzied as an immortal :P

I can honestly say, I did not see really any better moves, it's just one of those smith-morra positions.

LoekBergman

This game is great, no doubt about, but I have never feared the Smith-Morra gambit. I accept the pawn, create a very solid centre and castle king side. In this game did the move Ng4 raise my eyebrows. I would have played d6, Be7 and 0-0 instead.

Congrats, a victory against a titled player must bee motivating for you:) a memorable game indeed:)

ChessNetwork

Sharp/strong play, and like Stormstout said "Nice annotations". Cool

Thankyou everyone for your kind comments. I wish I was able to record the rest of the game cause as stormstout says black doesn't look that bad in the end position; whites main advantage was it being such an awkward difficult time consuming position to play. Black tried to push his king over to the corner to activate his pieces better and remove the king from danger but that was when they started falling; the rook became pinned later on and the knight got left en prise, then a rook got forked with the king. I was overly relaxed in the time scramble mainly because I thought I would lose on time; but was content with my performance, it probably helped me stil play quality very quickly, that and watching chess network do it 'David Blaine mode!'. You're right randomemory; had this ended in some beautiful queen sac mate or any mate.. it would have been really special! It felt like there should have been one somewhere....

I usually don't like "Look at my latest win!" posts, but that was really a great game!
