wow, I'm surprised you got as far as you did against him. Well played.
My game vs a GM
wow, I'm surprised you got as far as you did against him. Well played.
thanks.
what about 13. Be6 fe6 14. Qe6 Rf7 15. Qb3 threatening 16.e6 instead of 13.e4?
I don't know, it looks dangerous for both sides. I was a little worried about it during the game, but I didn't think that the sacrifice was worth it for him.
Looks like it's winning material to me...
On the other hand, I can see why a guy giving a simul wouldn't bother with such hijinx.
I liked his Ne5 actually... maybe bad vs a GM, I dunno, but follow it up with e6 and vs someone much weaker (he's a GM) it's probably a position that gives him great practical chances.
His 21.Rf2 move looked really odd to me, why not just g3?
I think after g3 g5! I would be doing fine. If he takes his pawns are doubled and isolated and if he doesn't take then he has to play Rf2 anyways. Also, against e6 I would play Ne5, attacking the pawn and defending f7. There would be a nasty pin, but I don't think that that move would have won instantly. I actually think I should have played g5 earlier in the game then I did, as it would have freed my dark squared bisop.

I played this game vs. GM Finegold today in a simul. Being a lower rated player, I thought I played relatively well even though I made a few positional mistakes. He played a line I do not know well in the Grunfeld, and while my moves were not the best in the opening, in the midgame I had a slight advantage. I lost when I failed to prevent a tactic that ruined my position (even though I saw this tactic).
