Hello,

Can somebody explain to me move 15.Rxf6? Why didn't Black take with the Bishop? Is the Rook sacrifice to open up kingside pawns ... white Queen attacks? thanks any help appreciated

Thanks Jitesh ... would move 15. Rxf6 be considered a sound sacrifice?

Well after all is said and done, the material trade comes out even (if you count the ...Rg8 19. Qxh7 as part of it) with a good positional advancement for white so I'd say it's a fine sacrifice if not a good one.

:) Thanks Nethinim I was wondering if it's a position/tactic I should practice and look out for or if it was only the for highly skilled (learn it later).

I'd say that he was just looking forward in moves and saw that after the trades he would be in good position and down at most one point in material which is almost irrelevant in casese of such positional advantage.

15. Nxd5 looks best

15. Rxf6 Bxf6  16. Bxf6 gxf6 and Black K escapes the centre with O-O-O later

my head hurts looking at this, to much branch out from the centre to the flanks ...

 Thanks, 15. Nxd5 looks playable...
