I thought I would put together all the analysis that I have seen on game 1 of the Spassky-Fischer world championship match where Fischer took the poisoned h2 pawn with his Bishop (29...Bxh2) and lost.  It looks like that with best play, Fischer could have drawn the game before his fateful 40th move (40...f4?).  Spassky sealed 41.exf4 and won in the endgame.

It must have been a lot of work to put that together. Thanks!

thanks mr  bill for the game analysis.Ive seen this ending studied by no less than the end game expert himself Jonathan Speelmans in his book analysing the endgame. And indeed Fischer had the justification for playing the infamous pawn sac.

Yes, I used the notes from Speelman's endgame book, as well as Kasparov, Evans, Smith, Gligoric, Mednis, Olafsson, Purdy, Keres, Botvinnik, Russian periodicals and books, etc.  By the time you add them up, it becomes very extensive in analysis.
