I think when it comes to tactics, finding two or more "equally" best courses of forced-moves is the exception, not the rule. Sure, a computer/beast is usually the final word on what is the "best" solution ...normally looking for material (upto quiescence!!!)or better yet, mate.
Tactics trainer
Today's complaint and answer to some experts for the 'Establshment"
When I stared playinig "Tactics trainer" back in 2009, the program's clock announced how many seconds I had to solve the problem: The time was reasonably linked to the number of options on the one hand and to the number of steps in the puzzle, on the other.
However, the site conducted renovations and I no longer havve the clock telling me how much time I have to decide in. The clock only tells how long I took do to it. Too often i feel penalyzed for taking too long to see a single move option as against one of several moves for a chackmate. Sometimes good single moves are incorrect.
Tactics trainer requires its problems to have one single best solution.
If you encounter tactics problems for which this is not the case, please report them to a tactics trainer moderator, and they will be deleted or fixed.
Propapanda and LisaV, could you please send me a link to that problem, or pm me its number, so that I can delete it?
So please remember to report such a problem next time if you encounter one.
If you did that problem recently, you may even be able to find it in your "recent problems" list which is displayed on your tactics trainer page.
When there are several good options in a position how many trainees consistently find the best solution within that 100 seconds?
Are the solutions of positions with multiple options always the best solutions?
Are the solutions scores calculated by a computer?
