The estimated elo from analysis

Does anyone know if the elo estimator for game analysis is accurate? My elo took a serious swan dive since I played on here last a couple years ago by 400 points. I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with my game and what to do about it. A lot of my games have an estimated elo in the range of what I used to play at yet, I can’t seem to get my elo back up.

you probably have to review punishing beginner mistakes and white openings

The post-game Elo score is pretty unreliable. If your opponent blunders and you can take advantage you will play a great game, and as a result you will receive a very high Elo estimate. However, if you're the one that blunders, you'll get a very low score. Especially in shorter games, it's easier to play perfect the entire game or terrible the entire game. The Elo estimate for a single game is pretty meaningless.

The way for you to get your Elo back is to play slower. Take more time for each move. In your recent game history I noticed two games lost before move 10 (both on move 9). In both cases you had an abundance of time left on the clock to think about what to play. You play 15 minute games with a 10 second increment. That means that you have plenty of time to think about what move to play. Take some time to go through the process of making a conscious decision (article on my blog). Before you play your move, make sure to check if the move is safe enough to play.

At your rating, when you take enough time to make your decisions, you should not reach unwinnable positions before move 10.

Good luck!

as a 500 I have gotten estimated ratings of 1750 on the chess.com analysis playing with stockfish level 3 (stockfish got an estimate of 1400) this happened twice - so yeah I think it's pretty bad and possibly should be removed.

here are the two games:

What's wrong with your game: elementary blunders.

Example:

Your opponent played 13. - Bxf3, and you spent 1 second (!!) to play 14. Qxf3, which just loses the a1 rook. One second, with more than 13 full minutes on the clock.

Another example:

You opponents 6. - Nxd4 just loses a piece after the obvious 7. Qxd4. Instead, you made a random move that lost another pawn, and resigned a few moves later.

What to do about it? Improve your calculations and tactics. The best way is to solve puzzles.
