The Pretzel Gambit -- Had me in a bind.

So Clearly, FM Schiller got me out of book pretty early and I made a number of errors in the opening.  This was probrably my worst loss on chess.com lol

Qe8 was flat out losing and Nh5 wasn't the best.  I also missed blocking check with Nh6 since the queen is pinned, but at that time, I think my morale was totally lost.

Would you mind analysing this game? I don't understand the logic behind some of your moves. We can do it together if you like :)

Sure let me know

I can say the most questionable moves were g3 ( didn't want an open H-file) and Qe8 was flat out losing and Nh5 wasn't the best.  I also missed blocking check with Nh6 since the queen is pinned, but at that time, I think my morale was totally lost.

Playing against someone like Eric Schiller must have been exciting. I wish I could do that.

Shoutout to Mr. Schiller - challenge me to a game please?

Yeah it's always good to play against titled players.  I beat another FM master in the same tournament.  There are no titled players (FM or Higher) in my state except IM Staurt Rachels and he doesn't play chess anymore... so this is a good chance for me to play really stronger players.

Yes, playing stronger players and getting whooped is definately one way to improve.

Yes!  A necessary evil!  Dare I say it... you can't get comfortable with winning... If you are winning all the time, you probrably should try to play stronger players!

Thanks for the post. Informative. Dutch defence torn up it seems.Smile

avneet

strong players seem to play only strong players as most of them don't accept challenges of players below a certain rating...i don't like this

Mainline_Novelty

what happens after 4...gxh3?

rooperi

I'm a BIIG fan of mr Schiller, really enjoy his books.

Mainline_Novelty

5.Rxh3, 6.Rxh7?

Politicalmusic

I"m going to have to analyze it again.

Mainline_Novelty

what about

1.d4 f5 2.Qd3 g6 3.g4 fxg4 4.h3 gxh3 5.Rxh3 d5 6.Rxh7 Rxh7 7.Qxg6+ Rf7 8.Qxg8

My "snack time" variation

That would be brave, but would have been a better alternative.  similar setups happen like that when people play the Lisitin Gambit (sp?).  That's assuming he played Rxh3 instead of bishop or knight takes h3 though.
